 Sanskirt name:-nagavalli, tambula
 
Description:-

Perennial vine ; stem semi woody ; climbing by means of adventitious rootles; nodes thickened; young parts glabrous . Leaves 15-20 cm long, cordate at base; petioles 1.8-2.5 cm long ; stipules membraneous, enclosing the bud. Flowers dioecious in dense cylindrical spikes. Fruits quite immersed in fleshy spikes. Grown as a commercial crop in various parts of Sri Lanka.
